Wine, Cheese, Chocolate and Grease 2011

No Comments Bike Culture, bike fashion, cocoa, In the Shop, Trek, Uncategorized, Wine & Cheese, Women Specific

Our Ladies’ Night at the bike shop this year was a wonderful success.

Our definition of success here is not measured by attendance or by how many bikes we sold. We gauge success by seeing our customers get more comfortable on their bikes and get more connected with the cycling community. It was great to see such a range of ages and interests represented (and satisfied).

Lindsay from TrekWomen was fantastic.  It was refreshing to all of us “backstage” to hear all the good advice coming from another voice. She is great at her job – you could tell her presentation was salted with personal experience from start to finish.

And, being a woman herself, was able to connect with the audience better than we ever could.

Thank you to all the ladies who came out, to Lindsay and Josh from Trek Bikes, and huge thanks to Chrissy Deming for the wonderful photos.

Enter the District

No Comments bike fashion, Trek

The new Trek Districts are arriving at NCC.

They are subtle and stocky. They are ideal commuter bikes – good tire clearance, eyelets galore, upright-but-not position, and internal cable routing keeps the bike running smooth is all sorts of ugly weather.

Check’em out.

Upgraded

No Comments bike fashion, Madone

My good friend J.D. brought back a saddle for me from Nepal. It looks pretty great on my Madone, don’tcha think?

It’s a tongue of car tire rubber stretched over a 3-coil steel frame. It weighs about 6lbs, but the comfort advantage is undeniable.

We’ve got some great new bags from Arkel, Bontrager, and Timbuk2.

Arkel has a couple bags that transform from pannier to backpack in no time:

The Bug:

And the Switchback:

Arkel also introduced a new errand bag called The Shopper this year – an invincible grocery getter:

Adding to our already impressive selection of grocery getters:

We also brought in a few of the new Timbuk2 Shift Pannier:

which… is brilliant.
