Very few people will appreciate this spread. It’s taken some retail acrobatics to get it all in one place.
G. Sherck is happy. So happy, in fact, that he’s packing the dog and hitting the road to drive here from Ohio to pick it up in person. He’s been waiting since September and only in the last two weeks have all the parts become available. We will take this pile and make it functional over the next few days.
yep.
[Amendment: the build is now done... see complete build pics on the Flickr album.]

sweet. this will be one of the first pugs with front AND rear larrys. a lot of fat bikers are interested to see how that goes.
is that a 34 or 36t ring? with the salsa ringdinger? super sweet. Gary shared his build list with me. i bet he is thrilled!
Retail acrobatics indeed. I do appreciate this, as I’ve done some similar moves to get my parts in order. Some great local LBS help (the frame) as well as help from the good dudes on MTBR.com (the elusive Larry).
But this….TWO Larry tires? Your connections run deep. I’m guessing this is covert ops or something. Were there break-ins reported at QBP last week?
Congrats on the build, Gary.
Lots o Larry tracks being thrown down in Surlyville, eh
Sweet pile O’Pug!!!!
I’m not a fan of the new frame color, but it’s a Pugsley after all, and with the tires, who looks at the frame!!?
I’ll be looking forward to future posts about what you think of the Larrys.
mine is done and sitting in the window at my LBS. Work today is a real struggle knowing what I’ll be going to do after!!!
Enjoy the beast, and PUG U!!!!!
Peace, Joe
Once I get this together we are going to be very happy. The pugsley is going to be more and more popular as winters are becoming more normal and snowfall is a fact.
Back to wrenching,
Ari

Well at least this will be one of the first “civilian” pugs with 2 larrys!
Ever since I’ve been running across the track of the Endomorph this winter (but never seen the Pug), I’ve been intrigued by the possibilities of Pugging around. (Congratulations Gary on yours.)
As to the color, it reminds me of three things:
1. Dark khaki, like the 1940s-era Army unis.
2. Gooey mud in clay-rich areas (well, I AM a geologist, I think that way)
3. Something Baby might leave behind after eating pureed peas.
Have fun building the bike, Tobie!
Tamia,
I’m with you on number 3 (or is that, technically, a Number 2?).
But, strangely, I actually like the color. A dude by the handle of Mahatma on MTBR.com ‘coated his in a very similar color before Surly gave us the color officially. And Mahatma’s wooden fenders and other details make this color scheme rock.
That said, my Pugs is getting powdercoated right now. Brown/black to metallic orange fade job. Plus a real chunk of black bear fur for the top tube.
Wooot!
[...] of the Surly Pugsley Google Group, is about to become the proud owner of this new Pugsley once NC Cyclery [photo above belongs to them] gets done building it for him. Excellent choice of a Shimano Alfine [...]
You guys need to come in and see this thing before it heads out east!
Ari
frickin BADASS! looking good!
Badass. Just picked my frame up. Nice pics, and nice build.
