North Central Cyclery
About
Hello. We are North Central Cyclery. It’s very nice to meet you.
Our History
We began in the early months of 2004, adopting 70 years of local cycling history into our heritage. Swede’s bike shop opened in 1935, selling the early wares of the original Schwinn Bicycles as well as firearms and fishing licenses. It is rumored to have boasted a basement firing range at one time.
We saw a need in the DeKalb cycling community and at the same time we saw the potential for an incredibly fun business opportunity. We love people and we love bikes. The wound from years of poor customer service, elitism, and lack of passion was ready to heal. We are striving towards a legacy of positive community service all our own.
We officially opened as the North Central Cyclery on April 4th, 2004. We have made it very clear in our staff, in our store, and in our involvement in the community that there is a new ethic in town.
We proudly carry Trek, Gary Fisher, Surly, Civia, Masi, Haro, and Eastern bicycles. We believe these companies give us the best opportunity to serve almost any rider walking in our door. We also carry a wide variety of products from other companies including Bontrager, Saris, Speedplay, Brooks, Arkel, Detours, and Big Agnes and many more. We have access to many products not present in our store and we gladly make special orders for customers, so if you are interested in something specific, please let us know!
We support, plan, coordinate or participate in almost every cycling event in DeKalb County. These events are the cornerstone of our business. We also host many in-store seminars on bike maintenance, bike fit, training, commuting, and bike safety. Please check our Events page for upcoming events.
If you are interested in more information on what’s going on in our cycling community, please subscribe to our monthly email newsletter, The Velograph, or email us at rideaway@northcentralcyclery.com.
